Subscribing to a list
Send an e-mail addressed to majordomo@mlahq.org. In the body of the e-mail type:
subscribe list-name (replace "list-name" with one from the above list)
i.e.
subscribe mla-leaders
subscribe mla-piirc
If your e-mail address has changed during your subscription to a list, you will need to contact the list administrator and request removal. This individual's address is mlasa@mlahq.org.
Reply to a Message
You may use the "reply" feature provided by your email software. This will cause your reply message to go all persons on the listserv. If you only want your reply message to go to specific individuals, you will need to address your reply message to the specific addresses.
For the listserv to be effective it is important that all leader officers have access to it. Leader officers without access should be encouraged to acquire access to email. A simple and quick way to gain access is to subscribe to one of the on-line services such as Compuserv, Delphi, or American Online. If this is not possible, the leaders should periodically forward messages to those who do not have access.
A common source of error messages is caused when your Internet address changes. This can happen with (or without) your knowing it. Even a slight change in your address can cause undesired results or prevent using the commands. The "who" command will give you a roster of e-mail addresses. This will let you know if your original subscription address is the same as your current address. If you find a difference, unsubscribe your old address and subscribe your current address.
MLA headquarters staff are glad to help, Subscribers who have questions or need help should contact the MLA system administrator at MLA headquarters:
