5.1 Funding

Sections do not receive financial support from the Association. Sections currently have the option to collect dues from their members through a centralized dues process (see Appendix 2). Dues are used to subsidize a variety of Section activities, including programs, newsletters, and mailings to members.

5.2 Seeking Outside Funding

MLA is chartered as an organization which can engage in benevolent and eleemosynary purposes and, therefore, encourages and accepts gifts from agencies, institutions, associations, and/or individuals. The MLA Board of Directors oversees all fund raising activities of the Association. Committees or Sections of the Association may not seek or accept outside funding unless Board approval is secured as described in Appendix 14. This is to insure coordination of fund raising activities among the various components of the Association.
