cPanel
cPanel is the web-based control panel used to manage Section web sites. Section webmasters will receive a link, username, and password from MLA Headquarters. If you need to have your password reset, contact Chao Cheng,mlafa1@mlahq.org, 312.419.9094 x20.
Some things you can do with cPanel include:
- Basic file management
- Basic file editing (not recommended–using a local web editing tool and FTP is preferred)
- Redirects
- Web site backups
General cPanel documentation isĀ online. Video tutorials are also available from your cPanel home page.
Basic file editing and management in cPanel is accomplished through the File Manager (NOTE: we highly recommend that you edit your site using Dreamweaver or another web editor instead of cPanel’s tool. Only utilize cPanel’s editor if you have no other web editor available.). You will want to set your file manager directory selection to your web root (public_html/www). This will display all of the files on your website. You may select a file and use the HTML editor (button located above your file directory) to quickly edit a web page. The HTML editor allows you to edit in WYSIWYG format or in HTML code.
