Section Council of the Medical Library Association

Ysabel Bertolucci, Section Council Chair and recently retired librarian at Kaiser Permanente, passed away September 6, 2012.

She was a dedicated and enthusiastic colleague, never shying away from a challenge and always striving to improve medical libraries, medical librarianship, and the Medical Library Association through her years of impassioned service and volunteerism.

Please join me in remembering our most valued colleague and mentor, Ysabel Bertolucci.

UPDATE: Thank you to the Medical Library Association for allowing us to post this beautiful letter outlining some of Ysabel’s contributions to our profession, written upon the occasion of her retirement.

UPDATE 9/14/12: A memorial recognition for Ysabel will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012  from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the Serenity Garden behind the Broadway Medical Office Building, 3701 Broadway.

Two new SIGs were approved this spring. Welcome to the Resource Sharing SIG and the Health Disparities SIG.

New Services in Members’ Area for MLA Unit and Chapter Leaders
MLA committee members, section leaders, SIG conveners or co-conveners, and chapter leaders now have place on MLANET to upload, share, or temporarily store unit documents.

While this is not a wiki, members can use this area to help transfer information between leaders as they rotate off committees or as a unit changes officers, or to share documents for collaboration, comment, or editing.

Documents are only available to current members of your committee or to leaders of your section, SIG, or chapter (not to your full membership). This area is not intended as an archive. Further information and instructions are available in the members’ area.

-choose “My Leadership Positions and Files”
-choose “MLA Unit Leadership Document Sharing.” A document area is available for each unit for which you are a leader. If you do not currently hold a leadership role, no upload is available.
